I can't get Beatles Rock Band to synchronize properly

So I finally purchased Beatles Rock Band for the Wii yesterday. I’ve been dying to play since I heard the announcement of the game, so needless to say I was pretty excited. I put the game in, run the Auto Synchronization, and start in story mode on the drums. Right off the bat I notice something is a little off, mostly with the pedal, but also with other notes that it seems I should be making but am not. I’m not missing everything, but it definitely feels off. “OK, maybe the auto-sync didn’t sync it up quite right,” I think. So I did a manual sync on the drums and try again. Same thing. I’m missing notes that I clearly should be hitting. The pedal is particularly egregious. WTF? “Maybe I’m just not in the zone,” I speculate.

So, I switch to guitar and just do a quickplay. I fail out halfway through Sgt. Peppers, missing notes I know I am hitting. “OK, clearly something is up here.” I do another auto-sync. It changes things by a few ms, but not much. Play Sgt. Peppers again, on Medium (usually I play guitar on Hard) get through it this time, but run in the yellow the whole time. It feels extremely easy, but I keep missing shit.

So, anyone got any advice for me? It feels like the thing is still not synced, but I’ve tried 2 auto syncs and 1 manual to no avail. It’s extremely frustrating and screwing up my Beatles experience, dammit!

Note: I am using the instruments that came with Rock Band 2, not the Beatles instruments. Shouldn’t make a difference, I don’t think, but perhaps worth mentioning.

How old are your batteries?

I’ve got rechargeables in the drum kit - they might need to be recharged. But they’ve run out of juice before and the whole kit just stops working. I’ve never noticed a lag before. Is that a common occurrence with batteries near the end of charge?

The ones in the guitar (non-rechargeable), now that you mention it, have been in there for a while.

Check your TV. What kind of TV is it? Does it have, uhm, ‘game mode’ listed somewhere in the instructions?

I have a Samsung DLP. I’m not sure if it has a Game Mode or not, but I can check. But the thing is: this has never been a problem with Rock Band 2. I just played RB2 over the weekend - no problems.

Samsung DLP. Yep.

I don’t know why, but this problem seems to be unique to Samsungs and it shows up in the Beatles. There’s a game mode that theoretically solves this. Check your manual or tell us the model specifically.

Not sure about the Wii but on the XBox, you have to do a manual sync, especially if you have an LCD or plasma TV.

The model is HL-S5087W. It’s a 50" 1080p DLP. According to the manual, it does have a Game Mode, which I’ve never used before. I will try that out tonight. If that does turn out to solve the problem, does anyone have any idea why I would need to use it for Beatles RB but not RB2? Seems strange to me…

I have no freaking clue. It’s only the Samsungs that have this problem. Notice that the google search I left shows
“I know this thread is old but I’m having this problem with the Beatles Rock band and my Samsung 50’ HL-R5067W DLP tv. "
“i’ve had my 50” samsung 1080p dlp for about 2 months”
“atest Gamers News: The Beatles Rock Band set . … I have a Samsung HLR5064 50” DLP HDTV that i have had for approximately one year. using composite ."

I’d try poking around those links, seeing if anything else solved the problems.
Oh! And turn off Dolby Digital in the game. That might help too, once you kick Game Mode on.

Update: I changed my TV to Game Mode last night and re-synchronized. Played 6-7 songs on guitar on both hard and expert and everything seemed fine. It was after 10pm, so I didn’t want to break out the drums and disturb our downstairs neighbors, but I’m feeling pretty confident that this has solved it.

I will test the drums tonight. I’m also going to toss in RB2 tonight and see if changing to Game Mode has screwed up the timing on that, since it was working fine before.

Thanks for your help, everyone (particularly E-Sabbath)!

Final update: Not that anyone cares, but just for the sake of posterity, I banged the ol’ bongos last night on Game Mode, and it worked fine. So the correct answer to the OP is: turn on Game Mode. Thanks for the help, all.

That’s two! I am the fixer of Rock Bands!

Good morning! Good morning!
