That certainly seems to be the case. I guess having written an article or two a couple of years ago is enough to get the ol’ reacharound treatment.
Well, that’s one way to get around the lack of a search function. 
What is this “reacharound?” Is it really that bothersome that someone who does productive work for The Straight Dope gets the highly modest perk of a different title, and can post on a message board? (I can’t Search either, FTR)
This sudden recent obsession that some have had with the SDSAB in the past few weeks seems really out of left field. What’s the root cause?

This thread’s not about **Q.E.D. **any longer. It got hijacked into being about SDSAB a while ago and that whole conversation thread you were replying to was about them as a group, not him in particular.

Not really. I was the only person who had posted in the thread about the how and why things are as they are from my understanding being on the SDSAB (and not on the SDMB Staff, which I have never, ever, ever been on). There’s at least an implication at work here, since I had specifically mentioned writing articles earlier - if you meant to refer to someone else then maybe you could direct your comments more to them? I mean - either it was a generic statement on the SDSAB, which does include me by the definition of generic, or you meant to refer to someone in particular but didn’t. You see what I mean?

It’s fairly open - anyone who wants to write articles should e-mail Dex and say “here I am, here’s what I know a lot about, here’s what I’m interested in, send me some questions and tell me what format and how much to write” and get the ball rolling. Dex would love to have more people writing articles, I know.
Well…I won’t comment on what others do or don’t do, but I hope that if ever I abused something like a member title someone would tell me to shut the hell up pretty quick.

Did Q.E.D pay for my membership? No.
Does he pay for his own membership? No.
Just because he happens to be generous when he feels like it, does it make his attitude in the ATMB threads any less assholish? No.
If he was telling members who he personally sponsored to quit whining, then I wouldn’t care. He ponied up for their subscriptions, he feels whether it’s worth his time and money or not.
My beef is with the fact that he has taken it upon himself, where he doesn’t pay his own way, to tell others how they should be feeling about the running of the messageboard and they do pay.
No single other SDSAB staff member has set off my radar like he has. First it was the junior-modding. And I’ve seen where others have mistaken him for someone in the know, because of the fancy title he wears and the fact that he takes it upon himself to present in threads where questions are asked of TPTB and answer on their behalf. I personally do think that SDSAB writers should get something back for the work they do. I just don’t think that entitles them to think they’re any better than the remainder of members on the board. Most SDSAB staff don’t do that. But Q.E.D does, and that’s why he’s getting called out. Again.
It doesn’t have to be all sunshine and roses, we don’t have to get along with everybody around here. But then there’s being a cunt for the sake of it, which is pretty much what he likes to do in ATMB. *I *paid my $15, I get to decide when the treatment/service I’m getting ceases to be worth what I’ve paid, and if I get to complain about it. Until he’s paid for my subscription as well as everyone else’s, then he is the one who needs to STFU and step off.
Going in reverse order: if I meant to refer to someone in particular, and it were in a Pit thread whose title consisted solely of a username, I would think the first thought would be, “Oh! He’s talking about that person.” Or at least the second thought.
As for the generic thing, I’d have to be pretty stupid to think that not a single person has written an SDSAB article in years. Granted, I don’t think you and I have interacted enough over the years for you to have a strong opinion one way or the other about my intelligence, so I’ll give you that. IOW, yes, I see what you mean, but it was a little puzzling to get that reaction in a Pitting of someone else entirely. Whatever.

I don’t mean to imply that you’re dense here–it seems like you’ve just been ignoring the Q.E.D. drama, and that’s a good thing. But “jealousy” and “sour grapes” are both references to Q.E.D.'s off-hand dismissal of his other Pitting, IIRC. Coulda been something else, but it was definitely Q.E.D.-related, so I think he was just cracking an inside joke.
Sierra Indigo, I hadn’t meant to get in the middle of something much larger, I had only wanted to, in fairness, emphasize that Q.E.D. had generously paid for many other memberships on here over the years to help out Dopers who have been in dire straits - in addition to his writing several SDSAB articles. I clearly misunderstood your larger point and what you were communicating, mea culpa.
Can I suggest that Dex post a thread asking for people to tackle certain issues? We’ve got people with a broad variety of interests, and folks just might be willing to provide information on some of them, if they knew that folks out there wanted to learn about it. I’m sure that there’s probably a Doper who’s an expert on left-handed turnip twaddlers, but probably doesn’t say anything about it because they assume nobody wants to know about them, never realizing that Dex is buried under requests for information about the twaddlers.

As I’ve said, I don’t have a problem with any other SDSAB writers, and it’s certainly not jealousy over the (small) perk they get for writing. I’m happy to pay my own way here. And hell, it’s a good thing that Q.E.D does help others who aren’t able to subscribe on their own.
I just got so fed up with the condescending attitude I was copping from him, in my own thread, when he’s not even an admin or even a mod. [ETA]: That’s not to say I’d accept the same sort of attitude from an Admin or a mod, but it’s more grating when it comes from someone who isn’t even in that position of power.

I was only trying to clarify what the real issues were, and at the time it did appear, to me, like things were directed towards me based on the context in this thread at the time you made your comments.
