Quality TV for cats

I’ve got this little girl cat. The weather is cold and I want her inside as much as possible. She has to stay in my room, which she doesn’t seem to mind at all when I’m around, but gets antsy when she’s by herself. She has to stay in my room. The other cat is bent on killing her, will beat the crap out of her, corner her somewhere and she’ll have no choice but to hide there and poop & pee in situ.

So, my room it is. The other day I was playing that YouTube video making the rounds of the two cats making weird little chirping noises to each other - then everyone started dubbing in human conversation - and she was utterly fascinated by that. She seems to like TV, if there’s something on which interests her.

Any ideas what to put on the tube? I have my computer hooked to the TV, BTW so anything playable on a computer is playable on the TV. I don’t get broadcast or cable TV in my room so it would have to be something on computer or DVD.

Do you think she’d like that Meerkat show?

I can’t seem to find it online, but after a discovery similar to yours (my cat going crazy for a bird flying on the TV screen) I bought a VHS tape titled “The Adventures of Betty Bird.” It was all kinds of real life footage of birds. My cat adored it and would run over to the TV and meow for me to pop the tape into the VCR. It was just plain old birds walking and flying around (lots of seagulls) and he loved it.

I bought it from an online pet store - maybe you could find something similar? I found this on Amazon:

Thanks, a bird DVD might do it. I’m not sure, I’ll have to test her on it.

I put on my gold fish aquarium screen saver for awhile and there was mild interest, but nothing that made her sit up and stare.

If you don’t mind buying her her own DVD, my kitty is just crazy about Video Catnip. It’s just squirrels and birds in a park but she just can’t take her eyes off it, she stalks the TV and bats at the birds.
