That’s a very bad thing for the future of the party. They are conceding their party to the extremists. I had a kind of opposite reaction atfer the 2004 elections. I called myself a liberal instead of a Democrat even though I woted for Dems 98% of the time. After Bush II was re-elected, I decided that the splintering among liberals cost another 4 years of Bush, and I started calling myself a Democrat. I also started volunteering for the party for mundane stuff like stuffing envelops. I wonde how many others went through a similar process.

I hear you. I’m on the conservative wing of the extreme left, a radical, in the formal poli sci sense of the word. I’ve never not voted, never once, and 100% Dem is probably a pretty good bet, I’m gonna pretend I can’t remember.
But a Democrat? Registered? A liberal? One of those namby-pampby centrists who think they tinker and fuss with the Death Machine long enough, they can re-build it as a solar powered rainbow extruder? Would the spirit of Thomas Paine ever forgive me?
