Idly wondered if her Scandinavian neighbours (Norway 3 years older and Sweden 6 years younger) might see this as a hint.
According to the newspapers she shared her decision with the Swedish king, her cousin. The Norwegian king have had no comments.
The king of Norway is also related, being her second cousin.
The European monarchs and most of the lesser nobility are all related. Centuries of inbreeding.
I think the Scandinavian, and most of the European, Royal houses are related.

If you check out a YouTube channel titled Useful Charts they have incredible family trees of a number of monarchies, or other families. I recently viewed the family tree of the well known Roosevelt family. Teddy and FDR were actually fairly distantly related, being fifth cousins. However, Eleanor was Teddy’s niece and linked the separete branches of the family.
