Queen song question

Don’t worry about it. After all, who wants to live forever?

Didn’t they do one about encroaching insanity? I’m going slightly mad trying to remember the title of that one.

I’m gonna live forever!

Remember remember remember…

You sass that hoopy frood? He really knows where his towel is.
Us be the winners …

of the earth.

That’s the Bee Gees.

Oh, wait, you mean this?

I do declare this to be the funniest question I have ever seen on SDMB!

To answer this question even more clearly, here it is.

Man, this is a great thread. I’ve learned so much about Queen I always wanted to know but was afraid to ask.

One I’ve always wondered about, but doesn’t look like it’s been answered yet… Some song he was singing about his best friend. Does anyone know what that one is called?

Pretty sure that was the theme song from “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father”. You’re welcome.

Oh, you just HAD to bring that up, didn’t you.

And don’t pretend you didn’t know that MY DAD wrote those words (“Talking Flashpewahh Blues”, 1958). Sure, he made some money when Joan Baez included the song on her “Pull the Triggers, Niggers” album. And Johnny Rivers performed it live at the Whiskey A-Go-Go twice… he mangled the lyrics (“Flay-ash Pwah-ah”, indeed!), but at least HE paid for his material.

But then Queen lifts dad’s coolest hook ever, and our family doesn’t see dime one.

More I can’t say, because there’s supposedly “potential legal actions” pending… but I’m not holding my breath.

I love this board. It’s a kind of magic.

Why do I keep checking in on this thread? I want to break free, so I’m unsubscribing.

What was that song of theirs that Metallica also recorded? It’s driving me stone cold crazy trying to remember it.

That would be ‘Flash,’ about Freddie Mercury’s best friend Gordon, nicknamed ‘Flash’ because he was the star of the high school track team.

Anyway, they also did this song with David Bowie about being under pressure. Anyone remember what it was called?

Ice Ice Baby.

Edit: There’s another song revolving in my head. It’s about playing something, and about love.

Leave. Just leave right now. That was totally uncalled for.

OK I was just gonna post here to correct my boo-boo. Rio wasn’t by Queen at all, it was by a completely different band, anyone remember who?

But anyway, now I’m here

How about the one where Freddy sings I’m having a good time, having a ball? It’s called something like ‘The Guy Who Couldn’t Slow Down’?

They were named after the villian from the movie Barbarella. I think their name was Arcadia.

Thanks. It always amazes me how much alike Bowie and Freddie Mercury sound on that song. It’s almost like there was just one dude singing it.

Don’t stop me now!
