I don’t have cable, so I got my first look of Queer as Folk during a four week business trip a couple of months ago. I quickly got hooked and rented the entire first season to get caught up.
I’m a straight female and I love the show. I think the actor that plays Brian is one of the most gorgeous men I have ever seen.
This is purely in response to if you are supposed to like Brian.
Yes, but not quite. He is definetly a bad boy archetype. He can be an ass and cruel, but is fairly good at knowing limits. My take on him is that he doesn’t know how to express emotion w/o feeling vulnerable (which he thinks is the 9th circle of Hell). Instead, he expresses himself through acts, i.e. Justin’s tution even when he was with Ethan, Lindsey and Melanie’s wedding, and sickly enough, Michael’s 30th B-day when he outs him to whats her name.
So you wanna love him b/c you know he cares but he can be too much of a prick sometimes to see that

But I love QAF and feel it is getting the shaft, so to speak, by not getting any Emmy nominations.
Also, a woman at work just got Showtime a few weeks ago and she and her husband are big fans of the show now…they went to Blockbuster and rented the first couple of seasons as they couldn’t wait to catch up with the older shows.
This season was pretty good and though the ending was a bit contrived, it was still fun. Looking forward to next season - but I believe it doesn’t start until January or March of 2004?

wah! I dont get Showtime, I actually download QAF episodes off KaZaA (not my fault, my parents wont spring for premium). So me, I’m just gonna wait a little longer. At least my 1st semester of college won’t be spent obsessing every week for my DL
