Queer As Folk Returns!! (spoilers likely)

Wasn’t “Looking” pretty much “Queer As Folk: The Next Generation”?

Yes. QAF fell into those short years where a DVD release was already assumed but streaming hadn’t been introduced. The QAF DVD sets have all the original music, Netflix streaming does not. There is a lot of music in the show. In particular, season 1 is absolutely ruined by omitting Let’s Hear it for the Boy.

So I’ve discovered I have access to it on Showtime streaming too. But on a quick spot check the soundtrack all seems to be the same as Netflix. Would it be immediately obvious if Showtime streaming has the original soundtrack (e.g. the first scene in Babylon), or are the a some particular moments that I should check to be sure? I’ll probably just spring for the DVDs, but it’s $100 so I’d just like to be sure I need to spend the money.

(thanks for the heads up, by the way)

The beginning of the first episode should have Babylon with the song Feel it (The Tamperer) playing. It has a very odd chorus, “What she gonna look like with a chimney on her?”

Here’s a version of the song. Queer as Folk ~ Feel It - YouTube

At the end of the episode, the last should be the dance anthem Dive in the Pool where you’ll hear, “Let’s get soaking wet!”

Nope, so looks like the Showtime on-demand is not the original soundtrack either.
Thanks.

Ooops! Looks like I misremembered the first scene slightly.

You will hear the Tamperer, Feel it as the first song. But, it’s a remixed version so the first lyrics you will hear are, “Can you feel it…” It should segue into, “Let’s hear it for the Boy” in about a minute. “Let’s hear it for the Boy” plays an important role in the first season.

The end credits do feature “Dive in the Pool” as I stated above.
