Queer As Folk Returns!! (spoilers likely)

Yay!

I don’t know if the writers are trying to accomplish this, but they’ve managed over S2 and now with the first episode of Season 3 to make me absolutely detest Michael. What an ultimate prick he was. While I don’t advocate violence, he certainly deserved the blackeye he got from Brian for the comment about Justin.

The fake-out at the end got me hook line and sinker.

I liked the Leathermen picking out flatware patterns. That was some of the cheeziest humor they’ve done on the show – AND I LOVED IT.

About Emmett and Ted

Em and Ted? Will they? won’t they? I was relieved when I thought they wouldn’t. Now the question of did they or didn’t they leaves me uneasy. I hope they backed out at the last minute like they did before. I’ve lost my best friend in a similar situation. I’d rather have my best friend back.

Debbie often annoys me. But I think she did the right thing with Justin, as did everyone but Michael. Brian even showed class with his comment to Justin during the bathroom encounter.

I enjoyed the episode and I’m glad it’s back.

I no longer have Showtime. Could somebody please give me a synopsis? (Are Justin and Ethan still honeymooning? What did Michael say about Justin? What did Debbie do? I’m dyin’ heah…)

Micheal said a whole bunch about Justin.
He told Justin to “get the hell out of our lives”. So Justin quit work at the diner and stopped coming around. However, Mel and Lindsey invited him, and Ethan, to a party. When Debbie saw him at the party she told him he was still a part of the family and that Michael speaks only for himself, not for everyone else.

When Brian showed up at the party also, Michael started tell Brian, loudly enough that Justin could hear, how he thought Justin was a selfish prick and on and on. Brian repeatedly told Michael to shut up, but he kept blabbering. Finally, Michael said something so vile that Brian decked him. Michael said “I can’t believe he acted that way after you saved his life. I guess it wasn’t worth it. You should have left him lying there.”
Ah crap, I missed it??? Grrrr… time to check for the re-broadcast schedule.

FWIW - I’ve liked the character Michael but at times I seriously have wanted to deck him too. Based upon Homebrew’s spoiler, Michael got exactly what he deserved for that comment.

Not too sure how I feel about Emmit & Ted storyline involving them being in love with each other. Emmit was always great comic relief and Ted was just a very real character to me when the others would slip into somewhat soap-opera type lives.

MeanJoe

I have never liked Michael. From stringing along that poor girl from work in S1 because he was too much of a coward to come out, to snubbing his mother because he wanted to “fit in” with Dr. David’s circle of rich friends, to his disgusting behavior in trying to create a crisis where none existed in last night’s ep, I find him to be an immature, passive-aggressive jerk.

Michael character also picks the world’s worst boyfriends…sort of doesn’t make sense…he is obviously into Brian - the dangerous, sleek type - yet he always latches up with whiney, prissy wimps.

Was nice to see Brian slip a few notches on the “hot” meter…although I am sure this is just a phase.

But to be honest, the opening show seemed a little…I donno…tired? I think it is time to add a new bar, or a new hot character, or a new subplot…the whole thing was a bit much of beentheredonethat.

I’ve always wanted to slap Michael. He’s such a whining little self-pitying coward- his drag queen father is more of a man. (Cute butt incidentally, but the rest of him looks like a 14 year old boy.)

What’s the status on Emmett’s claim against George’s estate? I know he refused the million dollar settlement that necessitated a denial there had been a relationship, but I assumed he was going to sue the estate for the $10 million he was left. It’s certainly worth fighting for since George was of sound mind when he made the will, the family would dread the publicity it would generate and probably be willing to renegotiate a settlement, and there are tens of thousands of lawyers who would gladly take such a case on a contingency (especially since he could sue for a lot more than the $10 million for mental cruelty, emotional stress, etc…)

So for the substantive question of the day: did you get to see Ethan nekkid last night?

Nekkid Ethan was present.

I’m up in Va and this past weekend, I accompanied my fiance and my parents to the DVD signing up in Georgetown. Gail (sp?), Thea, and Scott (the guy who plays Ted) were there signing various stuff. Even though the place was packed and the long line slow I had fun talking to all the fans of the show. My fiance and I also got several pictures, which is cool. One of them almost looks as though I’m eating lunch with Gail (brian).

In any event, I saw the episode last night and I’m a little conflicted. Generally speaking I think Brian’s a bit of a dick, but last night I had a lot more sympathy for him.

Brian’s being a big drama queen. He thinks he’s discovered The One Best Way To Be Gay and any deviation from that is weakness or “selling out.” Brian’s making himself miserable because he’s trying to cling to an ideal which is not (in the context of the show) in any way ideal.

I’ve always thought that the pro-couple bias of the show’s creators hurt the show to an extent. There’s no reason why Brian shouldn’t be allowed to be happy within his own worldview. Instead he’s reduced himself to refusing to tell Justin he loves him for no reason other than he thinks it’s a betrayal of his principles. Fine, I have no problem with that but then don’t have him degrade himself further by hiring hustlers who look like Justin.

I disagree that either of Michael’s boyfriends were whiny, prissy wimps. David was completely secure in himself and had no need to prove anything to anyone (King of Babylon contest notwithstanding). Ben is also very self-assured. Both characters were more fully realized than Brian.

Emmett has given up his claim to the $10 million from all indications. IRL he would be stupid to do so since he has a strong case but there are enough mitigating factors (such as his porn career) that it’s reasonable he’d decide not to pursue it. I was highly annoyed with that plotline, not because of the money but because the show went back and forth on whether it was a bequest or a gift made prior to death.

I think Emmett and Ted did it.

Wow these comments are from a while back. I have a question I hope someone can answer. Team about music. One song. I do not know the name of it. Where I can get it. It’s on the last episode of Season 3 (Queer as Folk). The “election” episide. Just as it’s ending and going to closing credits. I’ve tried using Shazam on my IPhone but it just keeps telling me to retry. Does anyone know what it is?

Is it one of these songs?

And here I thought QaF was being revived like Will & Grace or Roseanne.

There’s been talk of a QAF: The Next Generation. I’d be interested in watching.

I don’t recall seeing any of the main actors in stuff recently, so they’re probably free. Or at least, quite reasonably priced.

… zombie thread title left me nonplussed, though.

Well, zombie… but I didn’t know they had made a U.S. version of this. The U.K. one was hilarious. Looks like it’s on Netflix, that’s a rainy day or six taken care of.

They’d all talk more about their feelings, decorate in beige and mauve, and Michael would have a beard*, starting in the second season.

I advise against the Netflix version, the original music has been edited out and replaced with generic pop that sounds nothing like the original. The music is absolutely essential to a few scenes throughout the series.

Does that just mean you have to buy a DVD to see the original?
