Queer Eye 6/6: Still on the air, can you believe it?

An all-new season of Queer Eye starts tonight. It’s in Vegas, which is worth a few dozen cool points, but the straight guy is a magician, which is worth about seven million anti-cool points.

NAME: Max C.
STATUS: Married
OCCUPATION: Driver
CATEGORY: Magical Straight Guy
LOCATION: Las Vegas, NV
EVENT: Wife’s Art Opening

First up, meet Max C., a magician/comedian whose daytime act leaves much to be desired. Wanting to make it to the big show as a nighttime headliner, Max is in definite need of gay intervention. But it’s because of his wife that he sent out the call for help since his artist wife is having a big opening and he wants to make sure he impresses the artsy crowd but most importantly, impress her.

The Fab Five’s mission: get Max from a small-time entertainer to a big show headliner!

PROBLEM AREAS

Max lives in what amounts to a small pet store
Most of his acts are during the day but wants to headline at night
He gets his hair influence from his dogs
The last time he wore a tuxedo, he was mistaken as the help
Would love to cook for his wife Joanie but has no idea how to cook

Humm - I seem to watch this show less now.

It seems like every time I’ve tuned in they’ve gone all gimmickie. And uh, they already sort of a had a gimmick, ya know what I mean?

Anyhow - tonights sounds ok (despite the magician) - maybe I’ll give it another try.

My wife and I were both talking about this last night.

We were both surprised that this show still has life. We both thought it died last year, and when we saw the commercial promos for Vegas, we both looked at each other with surprise. (She liked the show, I hate it, so it could be another hour we spend apart from each other each week.)

She seems to have soured on it too. Perhaps it had just a small shelf life.

I enjoyed Queer Eye thoroughly for perhaps 15 shows. Then I got tired of it. I had no idea it was still on the air.

I really enjoyed the first season since these were real bachelors who desperately needed all the help they could get. The second season just felt meh. They went to people who had a good amount of money and didn’t need the help. I quit following it around that point.
