If i want to post a quote and use the quote button, but without any accompanying text, the Board rejects it.
If i want to post a url and use the Insert Link button, without any accompanying text, the Board posts it.
Why the difference?
You need two(?) characters outside of the quote box.
Because there’s no point in posting just a quote, without some sort of response to it.
Under the hood, the way it works is that the software doesn’t count anything inside the quote tags as being part of your post. Thus, for instance, if you quote mixed-case text, but what you put outside the quotes is all caps, it’ll trigger the all-caps detection.
Is a quesry somewhere between a question and a query?

It looks like it’s the other way around to me. I used the quote button, no text, and it inserted the tags. I used the URL button, no text, and no tags inserted.
ETA - the empty quote tags don’t show in the post, but are still there on edit.
It’s when you ask a question when you’re pretty sure the answer will make you sick.
