I know a man with a wooden leg named Smith.
We always did it by taking a letter from the end, and THEN back again, by taking a letter from the front.
What’s he call the other leg?
One vote for Bingo was the dog
And one vote for (clap) I-N-G-O
(clap) (clap) N-G-O
etc
When I went to camp, we had a song that went…
Camp Ohiyeasa has a ghost
and Bruno is his name-o
B-R-U-N-O
B-R-U-N-O
B-R-U-N-O
and Bruno was his name-o etc.
The ghost was definately Bruno.
I’m kinda amazed that y’all even remember this crap. Which way you clapped and who was Bingo and then we went backwards etc. I thought it was pretty dumb even back then. Of course I could be overlooking the possibility that many of you are still kids.
at heart anyway
I’m more interested in whether or not the story about the guy who went a few years ago and got copyrights to the song and has since received several million dollars in royalty benefits was true or not. Probably not I would venture to guess.
I always knew the song as:
A little black dog
Sat on the back porch
And Bingo was his name-o…
However–my dad made up all kinds of songs and stuff when I was a kid and I’m still finding out how much of it was total malarkey. This could be another case of a dad-ism catching up with me.
