I would like to start a thread in Cafe Society asking for advice or guidance in selling or consigning a used guitar. Is there any policies against such a thread?

Nope, no policies against – if you’re asking about the pros and cons of your various options and not trying to sell it to another Doper. For the latter, you should post in the Marketplace – for which you need to be a paid member.

If you’re asking about your options, start the thread in IMHO, since it’s about selling the instrument, not playing it.
