So I need ad blocking for my phone, I’ve been looking around, trying to figure out which is best and have narrowed it down to adblock plus for android, adguard or perhaps switching browsers to opera.
Not really happy with adblock plus allowing “some ads” through, but, I guess whatever it takes to get re-instated in google play?
anyone have experience with adguard?
What about opera mini? Anyone here use it? I have an aversion to many of google’s products and gooply. how difficult would it be to put opera on my phone? Would I have to get it from gooplay or can I get it from somewhere else?
I don’t consider rooting the phone to be an option because I not have any real incentive to do so, at this time.

You might consider the Firefox browser and use Ublock Origin for adblocking.
I don’t know about the android version, but with the PC version of adblock plus you can turn off its ability to allow certain ads. There’s a check box under the filter settings to enable or disable what it calls “non-intrusive” ads. If the android version has the same thing, you might be less unhappy with it.
I use adblock plus on my laptop, but I thought there was a bit of a hullaballoo a few months ago about them changing to allow some ads through regardless of user choice. After doing a bit of research for my phone, I just figured they did it to get their app back onto google play.
Regarding firefox, I’ve used it on computers before and didn’t really like it, and have always had the impression of reviews and opinions being all over the place with a small trending towards negative about it. Soo, not out of the realm, but low on the list of possibilities right now.
I mentioned Opera mini, because even though I’ve never really paid close attention, I don’t think I’ve ever really seen a negative review or opinion of it. I’m hoping someone on the Dope will have experience with it and will share so I can better make a choice on what to do.
I mention adguard, and right now that is how I’m leaning, but hoping someone around here some experience with that program also. I’m not too adverse to switching browsers, but I would prefer to avoid the hassles, real or imagined, that would entail.
