Question about airline tickets

Tried to open this up before, but I haven’t seen it yet. If it doubles, sorry.

Ok, question about airlines. My fiance needs to go to Minneapolis. Plane ticket to Minneapolis is $260. Plane ticket to Las Vegas, which goes from Nashville to Minneapolis, then on to Vegas, is $92. It returns from Vegas to Minneapolis, then back to Nashville. If she buys this ticket, doesn’t take the leg to Vegas(stays in Minneapolis), will the airline give her any trouble getting back on in Minneapolis? Is there some rule against this? I would understand why they wouldn’t want you to do it, but is this actually against airline rules?
