Question About Facebook's Blocking Protocols

A Facebook friend (also a real life friend, whom I’ve always had a great deal of affection and esteem for) has blocked me with what he’s calling a “short time-out.” Sad to say, he became afflicted with America-hating Fuckstick Derangement Syndrome during the pandemic, and he seems to have taken exception to some of he comments I posted to what he feels are worthwhile to link on FB since the insurrection.

He didn’t block kaylasmom, though, so I’m able to see the message he sent.

But he no longer shows up on my Friends list. Has he actually unfriended me?

Facebook doesn’t cover this kind of thing on their FAQ page.

If he’s not showing up as your friend I believe he’s taking a manual approach to the “short time-out” and has blocked you instead of using the “mute this guy for a while”-function Facebook offers.
