I just watched this movie On Demand. (Loved it, BTW).
Question: in a couple of scenes they discussed specific drugs, made by specific major companies. When they did this, they bleeped out the names and companies, and more noticeable to me, they also added the blank to the subtitles. So the subtitles would read “And from __________ company, you take __________ for your heart condition.”
I’m assuming this was an artistic decision, to add to the mystique of big drug comanies censoring or whatever, but on the outside chance that it was not, did the original version of this movie not bleep that out?
(My other thought was that the US market wouldn’t understand French-named drugs, but I have no idea if prescription drugs get other names in foreign countries, and even if they did, why would the subtitling not just swap out US names?)
