question about goal in uefa cup game shakhtar vs. sevilla

I’m trying to confirm what a friend of mine told me in an e-mail, about an unusual football goal.

I see at the UEFA webpage, in the minute by minute report on the game, that the Sevilla goalkeeper headed in a corner kick?!? Is this right? Did anyone see the game? What was the Sevilla goalkeeper doing in an offensive position?

Yes, it’s right. According to CNN

Goalkeeper Andres Palop scored an injury time equalizer before Uruguay’s Javier Chevanton added the winner in extra time to lead defending champion Sevilla past Shakhtar Donetsk 3-2 Thursday and into the quarterfinals of the UEFA Cup.

The game was four minutes into injury time with Sevilla facing elimination when Palop left his net unguarded and moved up for a last-ditch corner.

Daniel Alves swung the ball in and the goalkeeper headed home to stun the Ukrainian crowd.

Sounds like a hockey match in a similar situation. With almost no time remaining and you’re 2-1 down anyway, why not send the goalkeeper/tender to the wrong end of the field? There’s nothing to lose.
