Question about home videos on TV

Why is that, when you’re watching one of those World’s Scariest Police Cruiser Disaster Videos shows, they always blur out the time/date stamp on the video? Is it that important that no one knows what time someone ran from the police?

This question has bothered me for years, and I am sure that if anyone can give me an answer, it’s the folks here. Thanks.

The particular case involving the video may still be under litigation and considered evidence, when the video was released for program use. I’ve seen some of these shows where the video time/date is not blocked at all.
