On another message board they were talking about "masking " IP addresses. How is that done? Is it hard? Easy? Does it take a lot of time?

What you need is a public proxy server.
And on this messageboard, using an anonymiser or otherwise masking your IP will get you banned pronto…
Perhaps they were talking about classless interdomain routing. A bitmask is used to fix the boundary between the network and node address.
Or perhaps not.
I’ll be good I promise. I apologize for whatever it is that happened, even if it wasn’t my fault.
I have no intention of masking my IP on this messageboard, believe me, I was just interested.
We’re not going to encourage spoofing IPs here.
