Question about Italian resorts

Which beach resorts, or parts of Italy, would you say has the bluest water. Which is the most beautiful, pristine, spa-like?

Thanks.

Viareggio has very nice beaches. I spent most of my time inland though so I don’t know how it compares with the rest of the Italian seaside communities. It was a bit pricey compared to other areas though.

Thanks for the response. What I’m trying to find is that place which evokes thoughts of sun and warmth and blue water. Someplace that has been a destination for ages. something akin to images that the Greek Isles evoke.

If your looking for something like the Greek Isles, why not just go to the Greek Isles…it’s not that far from Italy.

Capri is like this.

Blue waters and places feeling like Greece? Southern Italy, then. Calabria, Basilicata or Puglia, just avoid the bigger towns. Sicily also has renowned beaches. Consider the small islands off the north coast of Sicily as well.

Sardinia also many nice beaches though the waters tend to be more “green” than “blue” in color, if that makes any difference. The beaches of Sardinia are quite popular throughout Europe as a summer resort area. Not sure about the prices.

Let’s move this from General Questions to IMHO, where people can offer their opinions.

The move makes sense. Thanks.

Sardinia, although the sea is greener. Capri with the blue grotto. Elba is beautiful, not necessarily pristine but more rugged and matural, like parts of Sardinia away from the touristy places. Almost all the islands are like this. Mainland coast is not so pretty or blue!

Capri.
