Yeah, I just bought a 1998 Jeep Wrangler Sport and I have a soft top on it now. I was wondering if anyone knows where the best place is to go to get a hard top for it, whether it is on the web or a particular company.
Thanks

My husband is one of most the dedicated Jeep enthusiast I’ve ever heard of.
If you want to talk Jeep with someone, let me know, I’ll hook you up.
He takes his '97 Wrangler on all kinds of Jamborees.
He’d like to take my Grand Cherokee too, but no way - I love that truck and am not letting him get his hands on it - except to fix it for me, of course.
I struggle every day to be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.
When I busted my Wrangler’s hardtop trying to remove it by myself like an idiot, I was in despair.
My buddy works at a dealership, and on his advice I called junkyards until I found one for $200. Of course it looked in really crappy shape. As long as the glass, and fiberglass aren’t cracked though, it’s a real simple job to clean, tape up the glass and repaint a hardtop to make it look as good as new!
You’ll have to doublecheck this since mine was a pre '97 model, but Chrysler has kept the size and anchor points standard since '87 when they changed from the CJ7 so any top should fit.
Just about every top I’ve seen is flat black on the outside, white interior. The only factors you should have to worry about are the quality of the hydraulics in the hatch, the fit of the gate, and whether your Jeep has the electrical hookup for a rear wiperblade (this last is a waste of $.)
Does this help?
Well, driving around in the hills over boulders and terrain I would normally consider only hiking over is not my ideal way to spend a vacation. My husband likes it though, so he goes often and occasionally I join him (in his Wrangler).
Let him take my truck? Not a chance
buddy. I’ve seen what the trail does to his truck, thanks.
Wow thanks everyone.
Basically I have a soft top now with hard doors so that will save some money. Apparently after 1997 they made it real easy to take off because it is made up of a few clips in the front and zippers and velcro to take off. Yeah a few other people have told me to check out junkyards and I think that might work. I called a dealership today and they said $1800. I expected it to be expensive, but that not much. Oh well.
