Question about Kyomara and his/her banning

OH.

MY.

FUCKING.

HEAD!

I bet you’ve never heard of Goody Powders.

I think I have heard of Goody Powders (something to do with car racing, maybe, sorta?)

And no fair winking. All this noise has given me such a headache that it hurts to bad to wink back.

Did Kyomara get banned or did the mods and admins actually kill him/her?

Something to do with relieving headaches.

Not to worry. This’ll all blow over. Kyomara doesn’t matter anyway. He or she is just a person.

Wow, The Clique[sup]TM[/sup] has grown so powerful it can kill posters now!? I’ll not make fun of them any more. (But, I still wanna join).

Damn The Clique[sup]TM[/sup]

I gotta agree with lib on this one. I reviewed the thread in question and the only inappropriate behavior that I can see is on the part of Manhattan.

First of all, it was wrong of him to make his first warning an ultimatum. Second it was wrong to treat a probable simulpost as flouting his authority. Third Kyomaras wasn’t even in violation of Manhattan’s ultimatum!

There’s nothing stopping the mods from just reinstating Kyomaras and waiting to see whether he really is a problem poster or not. If they have information that we don’t have that proves he’s a problem, then I would hope that they share it with us. It does no-one any good to leave the impression that some mods are hot-headed and arbitrary. Chilling effect and all.

Many (manny) times yesterday, I saw near simulposts which were either made redundant or nullified by the previous post. I yearned to post and say, “[Poster], you violated board policy by failing to refresh the thread before submitting. You are summarily banned from the SDMB.”

I refrained from doing so only because I do not wish to drag this altercation into other threads. But boyyyyyyyyyyy was it tempting.

Well, (slosh, slosh, slosh) this is the Pit, so I might as well wade in. Here, pull my finger.

Apparently, you can’t say anything bad about President Bush in General Questions, but you can say good things about him.

Now, the moderators may be correct in saying that the gentleman has a duty to take it upon himself to apologize for a mistake and do the legwork to fix it.

Now, I was brought up in California, and in California, when we make a mistake, we are either supposed to apologize and fix it ourselves, or write a letter to the editor and blame it on the Democrats/Republicans, whichever we aren’t.

You see, this clearly wasn’t done here. Even though it is a proven fact, in other words an appropriate response to a general question, that W is a bonehead, bumbler, bomber, etc., you cannot say that in GQ, because you apparently cannot prove it to the satisfaction of people who want to believe. That is why technical questions about evolution are in Great Debates, because you simply cannot convince some religious believers that it is an accepted scientific theory. Ya see, the lowest common demoninator (sp) sets the level for the debate. It would be impolite and immoderate to simply dismiss the right of a slackjawed and bucktoothed moron from discussing at the school board meeting his or her own personal views on biology and physics. So unless there is animous agreement on something, it doesn’t belong in general questions, and you can be banned for stating what you may think is a fact.

Actually, on a more serious tone, I think it probably looked to the moderator like a challenge to his authority (such as that may be), and he (or she as the case may be) didn’t want to look foolish. Not that I have ever looked foolish. No siree. Not me. No fools here. :wally

Squink, hopefully my above-median-posting-numbers will lend credence to my opinion that your obsession over posting frequencies is a quibble that simply makes people feel personally attacked rather convince them that somehow your opinion counts more than theirs.

I didn’t bother to read through ALL of the posts in this thread (so shoot me), but am disappointed to see that Kyomara is gone. Hope he makes it back.

Someone may have already made the observation that EVERYTHING IS POLITICAL, and Big Brother is watching!

I agree with Diane … this whole thing is giving me a HUGE headache! Simulposting, thread count, post count, three months’ worth of posts being deleted, certain personal opinions, warnings, failing to refresh/preview, whether or not various people should be banned for various actions that may or may not be against the rules of this board, and all this other stuff… AIYA!!! (for those who don’t know what that means, I’ll post a new thread sometime womewhere on this board… I don’t exactly know where yet, since I am a TRUE newbie… only registered yesterday)

For these purposes, however, it means that my head will explode if I read any more tonight! But since it did give me an idea of how the board works (?), that was a good thing.

I’m going to bed, everyone… probably post that explanation of “AIYA” tomorrow if I remember!

P.S. Shayna , I have lots of aspirin… want to come over for some?

I used to be quite the wallflower here, but golly. I leave the board for three days, and look what happens! Everyone comes out in my support and starts a raging, bleeding argument!

It’s quite gratifying, really. Thank you.

Those of you who said I must not have seen Manhattan’s warning were right. Those of you who said I made the comment to put my post in perspective got it right.

I apologized for missing the warning, and that’s all it took. I’m back. Thanks to TubaDiva for helping me clear it up.

I was really upset at first, but as others have pointed out here: 1) The Mods have a lot to deal with. Have you ever noticed how many members there are on this board? They don’t have time to open lengthy debates over whether or not a banning is fair. And 2) It’s just a message board. I’m here to have fun. It’s a fascist state, but it’s not like this is an issue of my personal rights as a human being.

All done. Here I am. The end.

The power of people power. Welcome back (though I don’t know you).

Either that or the power of e-mail of course.

Ahem.

The highs, the lows, the bonding together, the lashing out in anger. The numbers game, the accusations, the clique, newbies, evil admins – This thread really has it all. I think I may cry.

WB Kyomara!!!

Group hug anyone?

Hello Kyomara

Well I’ve had a very good wkend and my original questions where answered. Things are getting tighter here it seems. Once people know this it’s fine.
Glad to see that everything was cleared up in the end.

As for whether I and other people had the right to ask about how GQ is moderated based on how many times we post to GQ. All I have to say is
Now as the OP can I ask for this thread to be closed.

Sure, yojimbo. But only 'cause you’re still hung over from St. Paddy’s.
