Question about Moby song, "My Weakness"

It’s from the album Play. I heard it in the X-Files episode, “Closure” (used to good effect). Here’s my question: what are the lyrics? To me, it sounds like he sampled a song (a folk song?), and then added synth music over it. Is there any info on the song in the liner notes of the album? Does anyone know any info about this song? I have checked several Moby websites, and tried to find on-line reviews of the album, but no info about “My Weakness”. It’s such a beautiful, haunting song, and I’d like to know the history behind it.

I want to buy a Moby album- would “Play” be a good one to start with?

Thanks!

Most definitely. Fantastic album; there’s some gorgeous stuff on it. The DVD is cool too.

Play is a good album, but it doesn’t sound like any other album he’s done. Try Everything Is Wrong next.

I was never a fan of Play, all the songs sound to much alike with similar beats. With a few exceptions of course.

Everything is Wrong might be a better starting point, IMHO

Moggy, Moby sampled some of Alan Lomax’s field recordings of Southern African-American folk songs for most of the tracks on Play. Here is an interview with Moby talking about Alan Lomax.

gallowsfodder, thank you, thank you, thank you! It was starting to drive me nuts. You know, I wondered if the sample was African- it reminded me of the sample in Peter Gabriel’s song, “Biko”.

My pleasure, babe.
