Question about playing a "keytar"

Someone once said that it’s impossible to look cool while playing a keytar (a synthesizer played like a guitar).

So I’m watching VH1 Classic and there’s a Gary “Dream Weaver” Wright video on. He’s playing a keytar.

Question: what is he controlling with his left hand?

The right hand played the (+/-30) keys and the left contolled the buttons that changed the sounds - like you’d see on an electric keyboard or synthesizer.

Dream Weaver, huh? It begs the question, did you contol the remote with your left hand or watch the entire 4:16 video?

Actually, it was for the song “Heartbeat”. I don’t recall ever seeing a video for “Dream Weaver”.
