Question about Portal

…and Portal 2.

I’ve heard really good things about these games and I’d like to try them, but they’re not available in Wii, the only console I own.

Is there some reason these wouldn’t play well in Wii format, or otherwise why hasn’t it been released in Wii? Anyone know if there are plans to do so in the (near-ish) future?

No plans to do so from Valve. Pretty much you can count out the possibility.

Maybe the Wii-U? Who knows.
What kind of PC do you have? The engine is easy on PC hardware. Go here to see if you meet the minimum specs: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com (choose portal or portal 2 from the drop down menu).

If so, you can get it from Steam. Portal 1 at least, runs on low on my netbook, which is a piece of crap, and yet remains a nice gaming experience.

I run Portal and Portal 2 at the highest settings on my laptop without a graphics card. They really do run well on almost any machine.

As for why they haven’t been released on the Wii?
I can’t really say, but it just seems to play like it’s made for the PC. It seems to play like a game made for a mouse. I know it’s available on Xbox and other consoles so It does seem it could be ported.

It is notorious for not running on the Intel 945GM Chipset, though. It’s found in Dell Latitude computers from around 2006-07.

I have not been able to play it on my laptop and unless anyone around here knows a fix for that, few can.

Portal was free for awhile, by the way. I’m assuming you have to pay for it now, but I actually got it from Steam free a few months(or a year) before Portal 2 came out.

You have to use a modified driver. Watch this video (and read the blurb.)

I can not, for the life of me, figure out how to get a modded Windows XP driver that would run Portal.

Anyone know how?

I found this. Probably worth a try:
