Is it possible to set options on any Wave studio-type program that will allow me to record sound from the computer as well as the microphone?
Example: I press record, then start playing an MP3 via WinAMP. Then I talk into the mic. I play the wav file back, and my voice is superimposed over the music.
Right now, the only way I can get it is to select my microphone as the active recording device, and then just let the sound from my speakers hit the mic. But that sucks. Any suggestions?
It may be possible. You should be able to hear your mic out of your speakers… can you do this? If so, set the wave recorder to record from the “line out” which is the signal sent to your speakers.
I think it depends on what soundcard you are using. If you have a Sound Blaster Live! there is an option to record: “What U’ Hear” . I know that this works.
A hardware solution would be to get a mixer and route your line out and mic to that one, and then connect the mixer output to Line In.
