Question about the film "Murder By Death"

one way or another - this movie is a classic! I love all the subtle jokes through out (okay, some are none too subtle). I can never turn this one off!

Listening to all of the quotes flying around has made me want to get a copy of this fabulous film as well.

I was trying to come up with my favorite part but there are WAY too many!

Since getting a DVD player a year or so ago, I’ve been trying NOT to buy any more VHS. Alas, MbD is not available on that media. My ex- got my VHS copy in the divorce settlement, so now…what to do…what to do.

One of my personal fav scenes was when Wang’s son had to drive across the bridge to see if it was safe. Upon successfully reaching the opposite side, Wang said “good…now come back and get adopted father.”

Though compared by many to the movie Clue http://us.imdb.com/Title?0088930
I think MbD has many, many more in-jokes and nuances. Plus, it is a movie that the whole family can enjoy; somewhat a rarity nowadays.

“Twain used to come every year to France to go poodle-hunting.” (IIRC)

MBD is on Encore tomorrow 3/14 at 9:50 AM EST and again at 6:20 PM EST. It’s also on Plex with start times an hour later. So set your VCRs.

I saw MBD when it first came out too. I was like 8 so some of the jokes went over my head. Favorite line is “I prefer to be called Rita!” and favorite exchange is Dora: “Why would anyone want to steal a dead body?” Dick: “Well darling, there are some people who…(whispers in her ear).” Dora: “Oh that’s tacky…that’s really tacky.”

Anyone else remember the Sherlock Holmes parody that was deleted from the movie after the Holmes people threatened legal action?

I saw that. When the film was first shown by ABC (I think), they included that deleted scene. This is known in the biz as a “network version.” In order to fill out a time slot, a network will include outtakes. I’d bet the version on Encore does not include Holmes & Watson.

BTW, Encore finally has a website now: www.encoremovies.com

When all else fails, ask Cecil.
