Ladies, when you get your hair done, does your stylist shave the back of your neck?
I’ve noticed that whenever I go to the barber, he or she will always shave my neck. But I’ve noticed on some women, especially those with long hair, and especially on women who appear to be of Mediterranian descent, that neck hair sometimes gets pretty long. I noticed someone last week whose neck hairs were a good 8-10 inches long.
Yes, my stylist will shave the back of my neck when I get a short hair cut. Just for the record, I really hate that portion of my hairline. I keep thinking that if I were a horse, that would be my mane!
Style even moreso than length. I’ve seen women who have the sides and back shaved but the top long - that way they can pull it up for a more punk look, or leave it down for a more conservative look.
For me, when I pull my hair up in to a bun or a loose ponytail - I’d rather have the whispies than a shaved line.
I have my hair in a bob (just below the ears), and have a low hairline on my neck (I’m Hispanic FWIW). So yes, I need the neck shaved, otherwise it just doesn’t look neat…
Yes, it does. If I get a short cut, I make it perfectly clear to the stylist that the cut will have to be long enough that s/he doesn’t need to shave the back of my neck. I hate the feeling of the shave, and I hate it when the hairs start to grow in. Itchy.
No, but my hair is just past my shoulders, so there’s no reason to shave my neck. When I wore it short back in the 80s, I think she may have shaved it, but I’m not positive.
I just got a pixie cut about a month ago, so getting my neck shaved is a new experience for me (I’d always kept my hair longer). I’ll have to have it done again fairly soon–it’s starting to get long and shaggy.
I’ve never had my hair short enough for it to be an issue. But the hairstylist who did my mom’s hair last week got the razor a little close to the skin–she had horrible razor burn afterwards.
My hair’s always been short enough that I have the back of my neck shaved. I hate wisps, and have learned that I can tidy the back up shaving by touch when I’m in the shower. My hair’s curly enough that it tolerates a variety of lengths; the hair on the neck is the first thing to look untidy.
