Question about working part time at the Post Office.

I got a letter a couple of days ago from the post office telling me of a job opening. It pays really well, but is part time flexible. Depending on the number of hours I’d work, I might be able to pay the bills (I figured that 40 hours at my current pay translates into 28 hours of postal pay).

But here’s the question. I’m assuming that Post Office is like most every other job in that part time employees don’t get benifits. Is that correct?

My husband is a letter carrier for the USPS, and says that if you make your 90 day introductory period (in which they work you like a dog, pretty much, and don’t even think of calling in sick/coming in late), you will get benefits just like a full time worker would.

Thanks. Its for a Mail Processing Clerk position. I’m still undecided if I should apply, but this is definitely a plus in the pro column.
