Question concerning Nixon's representation

The media portrays Richard M. Nixon as having a big nose like Pinocchio (that could be spelled wrong). I’ve seen this numerous of times on shows like The Simpsons, The Critic, and Saturday Night Live. It is my understanding that Nixon got this representation by deceiving the American people (Watergate). The question is: Am I right? Did Nixon get this by lieing to the American public?

Thanks in advance.

Since cartoons are drawing people in cariacature, the artist will usually exaggerate a prominent feature of someone’s face.

In Nixon’s case, his nose was rather prominent. I think a lot of that was because it was long and thin (like Bob Hope’s).

The other aspect that tended to get featured was Nixon’s tendency to look like he was unshaven. He was just one of those people who tended toward “five o’clock shadow”.
