Question for "Charm City" Dopers and Baltimore Orioles fans

Brooks or Cal?

Mark Belanger or Cal?

Boog or Eddie?

These are serious questions.

Brooks or Cal? At the most basic baseball level this is easy. The answer is: Both. Brooks’ll play 3b and Cal will play SS. On a more metaphysical level as to who most epitimizes the O’s, I’d go with Brooks, but it is a close call.

Belanger or Cal? Gotta be Cal. Heck, with no disrespect to Belanger, I’d rate Luis Aparicio well ahead of Belanger too.

Boog or Eddie? Eddie, because he could switch hit and kept himself is shape so that he lasted much longer.

I’m not from Baltimore, but how can anyone in their right mind compare Mark Belanger to Cal Ripken?

Belanger was a horrible hitter and there’s no way his defense would nearly compensate for his anemic bat. The Orioles won despite Belanger’s hitting. The Orioles won because of Cal’s hitting.

Brooks
Cal
Boog

Brooks over Cal. It’s a hard decision, but I’ve been a lifelong Brooks fan.

Cal over the Blade.

Boog vs. Eddie is a tossup. I think that Eddie would get a slight edge, because I feel he accomplished more, despite that his overall O’s teammates were not as good as the teams that Boog played for.
