I know that you’ve worked extensively in Central America and in the Darien in particular. I’m reading a book called Lost City of the Monkey God, which is about past and recent expeditions into Mosquitia, in Honduras, by those looking for Ciudad Blanca, a reportedly large and ancient settlement covered by jungle. The accounts of the area are fairly hair-raising, much like those of the Darien, and I’m wondering if you have any experience with that area and can tell us about the difficulty of traveling in those sorts of environments. I think some writers tend to embellish things, but I’m sure that dangers are very real, from disease to critters like the fer de lance. Thanks.
