I have a pumice stone for my feet, and when I take a shower I use it to scrub 'em with. My question is, how do I clean the pumice stone? I’m sure it’s got to get icky skin flakes and bacteria on it. Do I soak it in something? boil it? Anyone got any suggestions or wild guesses??
I use a nail brush and soap on mine, then put it somewhere where it can totally dry out for a while, hopefully killing whatever might grow in the damp.
Would it be too gross to put it in the dishwasher? All that hot water, soap and dry heat would probably get it nice and clean.
Well, if it’s an actually pumice stone, you shouldn’t have to clean it - it will slowly desolve away as you sluff the skin off with it. Eventually you’ll have a little, nubby pumice that’s pretty well useless and then you replace it.
If it’s a pseudo-pumice stone, don’t clean it - throw it out after about 1 year and get a new one.
