I saw a building so labeled, in Hollywood recently. The men coming in/out appeared to be Orthodox Jewish, and of course, I couldn’t read the Hebrew lettering on the sign over the entrance.
Chabad is another name for the Lubavitch sect of Hasidic Jews. (Lubavitch is the name of the Russian town in which the sect originated.) “Chabad” is an acronym for the Hebrew words “Chochma” (wisdom) “Bina” (reason) and “Daas” (knowledge).
Chabad has centers all over the globe, including in most major cities in North America and Europe. These centers usually include a room for prayer and Torah study, which is probably what the people you saw exiting the building had just finished doing.

“Sherlock Holmes once said that once you have eliminated the
impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be
the answer. I, however, do not like to eliminate the impossible.
The impossible often has a kind of integrity to it that the merely improbable lacks.”
