Do you consider Prentiss vs. JJ a “Betty v Veronica” debate? I’d take Prentiss myself.
Sadly both are now off the show, though JJ makes cameos now and again, and maybe they’ll bring Prentiss in from undercover dead mode eventually.
Criminal Minds seems to take itself pretty darn seriously (as opposed to the NCIS franchise), so I don’t think there was any intention to create such a debate.

I agree they aren’t trying to foster the debate, but when you put a blonde and brunette on a show together, it’s inevitable.

I’m hardly a Criminal Minds fan – it’s too unrelenting in its darkness – but I’ve watched the occasional episodes. The young woman who plays JJ is conventionally beautiful, but nothing special; it’s almost cookie-cutter, in fact. But Paget Brewster, who plays Prentiss, is heart-thumpingly lovely. I love her nose in particular.
Oh man I forgot about her at first, but 2nd season casualty Lola Glaudini (the original “Veronica”) has both Paget & A.J. beat.

JJ. They are both exceptionally attractive in the way only Hollywood can deliver. But asked to choose between them it has to be JJ. Yes, Skald, AJ Cook fits the Hollywood standard of beauty. But it is a standard for a reason.
I think JJ is HOT, but I’m a brunette-lover so Prentiss takes it.
My best memory of Paget Brewster was in an old episode of HUFF that showed her in the bedroom putting on her lingerie. Uhmmm, yummy.
