"Criminal Minds" appreciation thread

This show has replaced SVU as my favorite "procedural/“can go on forever” show.

I’m hooked on this show too, although I preferred Mandy Potemkin to Joe Montaigna (sp?). Garcia has to be one of my favorite characters of all time.

I’d tell Reid,“The inherent abscence of light is a PERFECTLY VALID reason to be afraid of the dark.”

Love the show. To me, the only character that could probably be easily replaced/removed would be Emily (though I like Paget Brewster better than Lola Glaudini, who played Elle). Mostly, the cast is perfect. Love, love, love Kirsten Vangsness as Garcia, adore the character of Spencer Reid, and who wouldn’t want to look at Shemar Moore (Morgan) for part of an hour? Humma, humma!

While I’ve adored Mandy Patinkin ever since The Princess Bride, and loved him as Gideon, I don’t mind him being replaced by Joe Montegna at all. I like that they didn’t try to make Montgna’s character, Rossi, into “Gideon redux”; they are totally different characters.

Personally, I’m psyched for the season premier.

I love this show too, and I think I am one of the few people who like Joe Mantegna better than Patinkin (though I didn’'t mind him).

I really like the quotes that they use on the show too.

I am a little bummed by the rumor that they are getting rid of JJ, and cutting down on Emily’s screen time this year - What’s up with that?

I dunno the deal w/dumping JJ, and paring Emily down either!

I watch it whenever I can, and enjoy the puzzling-out of the mentality of the twistoid-of-the-week. The murders are usually super-disturbing, though.

For instance, Tim Curry as the repugnant killer redneck is hard to look at, yet impossible to look away from.

Another huge fan, and another one who prefers Fat Tony episodes to Inigo Montoya ones.

Yeah. By the third time I watched it, I learned that it’s not the show I want to play on my DVR while I’m eating lunch!

I absolutely love Criminal Minds and never miss it. I do however wish that they could spend more time on each killer though. It’s always the same each week. Opening murder, quote (which I love), meet the police and family, another murder, fight with the police, an almost murder than it’s solved.
Remember that show “Murder One”? The show took the whole season to solve the crime and it was very addictive. I would like to see Criminal Minds try this. I think it would be awsome.

I watch the show sometimes, and occasionally am entertained by a particular killer of the week, but I have to admit tha I find the show somewhat irresponsible and unrealistic in that profiling is basically bunk and never actually helps to catch anybody in real life.

Fitting attitude considering your screen name. All I can say is,“MST3K, MST3K!”

I was a huge fan for months and did a big episode catch up. My favorite character is Reid but I didn’t like the story arc about his childhood and the pedophile murders. I thought The Reaper episodes were top notch. One ep that was unintentionally hilarious was the Jason Alexander one where he wore a ridiculous wig.

The new season has been a bit controversial since the network is forcing a lot of changes due to launching the Criminal Minds spin-off with Forrest Whitaker. JJ will be written out and Emily will only be in a couple episodes. Garcia will straddle both shows and they are bringing in one new female character.

So what are people’s favorite episodes and most-disturbing episodes?

My favorite is “The Angel Maker” because it isn’t too gruesome and has a couple humorous moments. Most disturbing for me is “To Hell…and Back”

I loved Riding the Lightning because they didn’t do what everyone expected in telling the child who his mother was.

That’s my favorite episode. I loved Mandy Patinkin so much in it – he brought such a soulful gravity to his performance, especially in the last couple of scenes.

I fell in love with Spencer Reid right off. He’s so cute and geeky and just…nomnomnom!

I love this show to bits. It’s got the right mix of “ew oh my God!” and brainy stuff that keeps me entertained.

Can anyone help me find where exactly I was when I stopped watching? We were definitely through the first season, and I think Patinkin was getting close to leaving: we had just recently had the second episode with Frank, that ended up with both him and his infatuated girlfriend/stalkee killing themselves.

Now, the one thing I remember clearly is that the team leader was under investigation- there was some kind of political play going on, as he refused to play along with his superiors and they attempted to get him off of the team.

So does this sound vaguely familiar to anyone? I’m assuming it was from near the end of season 2.

I know, right? The first time I saw the show, I just wanted to take Reid home with me, and feed him a decent meal, and pet him and stuff!
Then when he goes into his ‘socially clueless’ schtick, I just love him all the more!

I found where I left off (first episode of season 3), and just saw the scene where Reid and Hodge got stuck in an elevator together- it was awesome.

“Um, You guys okay?”
Reid: “I’ll get back to you on that.”

Don’t remember the particular episode, but I remember one where the BAU team was in some other police department offices (surprise!), and all the BAU guys gathered around the table with all the cops. Spencer started on his usual “Well, statistically, only 12% of such and such does so and so” and Emily just looks at him. Finally, he trips to the fact that she’s looking at him and says “What? I was just trying to make small talk” and she says “And failing” and smiles at him.
