Question on recycling...Wal=Mart style

A recent viewing of a Wal-Mart bag left the lot of us Dopers confused at this weekend’s DopeFest. The instructions for recycling were, in this order:

Empty all merchandise and receipts from bag

Turn bag inside out

Deposit in Wal-mart…(whatever)[/ul]

Why is step 2 necessary? If the bags are being recycled, what benefit would the bag have to being turned inside out? Are they merely being reused?

Because different types of paper use different fibers and/or require different means of recycling. Wal-Mart does not want any plastic packaging, paper receipts or other foreign objects included. By turning the bag inside out you are insuring that everything has been taken out of the bag.

P.S. I do not work at Wal-Mart, but I have worked with paper for over 35 years.
