I heard that Keyzer Soze was turkish for something. What is the English Translation of his name?
According to the IMDb, Keyser Soze was named for screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie’s old boss, Keyser Sume. The original name WAS Keyser Sume, but the boss asked for a change since he didn’t want to have somebody so awful named for him. What you may be referring to is the story (I don’t know that it’s true) that Soze is Turkish for “to talk,” which would be a hint that the villain is “Verbal” Kint.
Talks too much.
I was just looking around and couldn’t find it (on the internet) but if you watch the special features I thought the said it actually did mean something. I would guess “the devil” but keyser doesn’t really sound like an article so I don’t know.
I think it’s Hungarian. It means ** Verbal** in English, I believe.
Not Turkish, Hungarian. Keyser = “King” (from Caesar). Soze = “Verbal”
Hence “King Verbal” (which is huge clue to the ending)
I would imagine “Keyser” has the same root as Czar and Kaiser - Caesar. I admit that’s a big guess, but if it’s true that it’s taken from a real guy’s first name, there’s not likely to be some super-secret hidden meaning. Söze may mean what they say it does in Turkish, I can’t find a page that’ll just tell me.
