The best chipwagon in Ottawa is only open from about 11pm to 4 or 5am. Best poutine in the city, but you can only get it after hours…and while you’re out, why not have a suds or two? And then you want some poutine to go with it.
4am is even better. That’s what makes La Banquise so evil. It’s open 24/7 and it’s right down the street!!!
So, there’s no need to go to Hull anymore???
There is never any need to go to Hull. There has never been any need to go to Hull. There will never be any need to go to Hull. The end.
Was there ever a need to go to Hull?!?
ETA: dammit!
Aaah ! the lack of memory of youth ! You probably don’t remember the time when they rolled up the sidewalks at nightfall in Ottawa, or the 11 PM last call, compared to the 3 AM one in Hull. Hull was built on the vices of Ottawa.
I don’t have a lot of reason to go to Ottawa, either…
Guess what I just had for supper? A large poutine from Leblanc Patate(formerly Pivins) in Huntingdon Quebec. I could only eat half, the rest is breakfast tomorrow. Jealous?
Indeed!
If you’re going to be in Montreal, may I suggest another gastronomic pursuit? Smoked meat sandwiches are stunningly good. My last two trips to Montreal have taken me on smoked meat quests.
Reubens (link seems to work on IE only) is a great place for both a sandwich and poutine.
Schwartz’s is like stepping way back in time to another era. The ambiance (and food) are worth waiting in line for.
Both places are sure to leave you satisfied.
French fries, gravy, and cheese - what’s not to like? I’ve never had official poutine, but I’ve liked every version I’ve had - deep fried grease with extra grease and salt just hits the spot sometimes (and yes, after drinking would be one of those times, if I still drank). The risk you’re taking is that you’ll get addicted to the good stuff and not be able to get it again.
It’s working fine for me on Firefox.
Yep, 'tis true.
Plus you could buy wine or beer at the corner grocery stores, too.
Thanks for those suggestions! I’ll try to check them out…

It’s not the poutine, it’s just Timmins.
