Is there a difference between consuming fermented soy and non-fermented soy in the diet?
1 was stated in the article - basically the assertion made was that asian diets with soy tend to contain much less soy protein than American diets with soy. 2 comes from a box (I can’t remember, but I think it was a soy milk box.) 3 was also mentioned in the article. Thanks!
I read a similar article in Runner’s World a few issues back. The problem is with the isoflavones found in processed soy. Marinated tofu products (tempeh, miso, etc.) aren’t as harmful but still should be consumed in moderation. You can easily find information on the web by searching for “bad soy” - there are lots of sites (both objective and otherwise) that have good information on how harmful soy can be. Also, I’m pretty sure that this topic has been discussed on the SDMB in various forums (sorry - I don’t have a link but you could try doing a search on this site).
