Questions about "Star Trek: Discovery" (Open spoilers)

It’s considered Treason

In the Star Trek: Discovery season 2 finale, “Such Sweet Sorrow,” it is established that mentioning the USS Discovery, its crew, or its experimental spore drive is considered treason

It is/was a nice way to say “this is why you never heard of this crap before - and never will again (mostly)”

THing about Discovery - there were quite a few good stories/episodes - but the writers seemed to want to be too “clever” for their own good. If they had dumped burnam and just kept Saru the show would have been 1000% better.

Right, but what I’m saying is that — from a storytelling perspective — it wasn’t a nice way to say that, it was in fact a pretty bad way to say that. The whole never speak of it again/treason thing is just like a lazy deus ex machina that lets them reset everything. It’s having your narrative cellular peptide cake with mint frosting and eating it.

Oh - I agree - it’s lazy from a story telling - but its about the only way they get away with it.

They could make some random kid really sad about them and make him suddenly wipe them from everyone in the galaxy’s memories.
