Questions About the Movie Castaway? Spoiler Content

Ok. I really liked the movie. I thought it was one of the more realistic island survival movies. But I do have a couple of questions.

First, why did he try to leave the island through the wave breaking side. I mean the waves were not breaking on the other side of the island were they?

Second, Why would he eat the fish raw after he finally got fire?

And are coconut really a laxative?

It’s a good thing for him that he ate the fish raw. Raw fish contains vitamins which are lost through cooking. That’s part of the reason the Inuit (Eskimos) were able to survive on a diet which was virtually vegetable-free.

Maybe Hanks had read the same Discover Magazine article as me.

As for the boat launch question, he was hemmed in by cliffs on all sides but one. Unless he could haul that raft over the mountain…

Thanks spoke.

I was flicking through the TV last week and Tom Hanks was being interviewed on some show with a bunch of women… I think it’s called The View.

Anyways, he said yes, it’s true, it really does work as a laxative.

What was wrong with that crab leg with the yucky goop istead of meat? The look on his face as the goop dripped out was priceless!

And the scene at the welcome-back party with all that RAW FISH and CRAB LEGS! The irony was supreme. And again, the look on his face!!!

There is already a thread about the movie (I goofed too).
