Quick: Am I supposed to tip delivery guys?

Washer and dryer being delivered any moment. Should I tip? If so, how much? Thanks.

$20. Or, $10 each if there are two delivery guys.

That was quick! Thanks.

Never heard of such a thing.

Pizza: yes. Appliances: no.

What if the appliances are delivered in 30 minutes or less?

Is there a “shipping and handling” charge already included?

That’s exactly what I did for the two guys who delivered my fridge. My friends looked at me like I was nuts when I told them, though. I guess what I was used to in the city might be different up here??

Eh, I guess you don’t have to, but when I’m counting on someone moving a large item into my house without breaking anything or leaving big dents in my walls or floor I don’t think it’s out of line to tip.

That and offer them something to drink. Just the way we’ve always done it.

I agree with XJETGIRLX.

Are they also removing your current w/d?

We tipped our movers quite nicely (maybe $20 apiece, for 45 minutes work, one end only, plus drive time), plus pizza, but I don’t think we tipped the guy who installed / delivered our hot water heater. I mean, fuck, he’s a plumber, making good money. But the guys moving our stuff might as well have been begging on the street - I’m sure they made much less than the plumber, and did MUCH more actual physical labor. Plus, I’d wager that I’d have had more trouble doing their job (due to my physical limitations) than the plumber’s job.

Just my $.02
