I’ve been designing websites for over four years now. Trouble is, I’ve never registered a domain name for one. Therefore, I don’t really know exactly where to go to get what I need.
Quite simply, the site is already hosted at CrossWinds.Net, and all I want to do is buy the domain and have it point directly to the CrossWinds account.
Is there a quick and easy way to get this? I’m quite computer literate, but this isn’t an area I’ve ever dealt in before, so be technical if you must, but simplicity is appreciated.
There are a number of services that do this. You’ll need to pay for the domain registration, but you can have the domain redirect to your current URL just fine. Of course if you want to save money, you can go with a company like NameZero.com that lets you register a domain for “free” – to redirect to another site. If you want the domain registration moved to your name, you just pay them the fee that you would otherwise have paid up front. NameZero does frame its ad underneath, but depending on what you want it for it works fine, and a friend of mine swears he likes it.
There are a couple of other cheap redirect places, like myinternet.com. If you need more info feel free to email me.

Just go to register.com and make an account.Select the domain and pay for it.Then all you do is ask your host for their nameserver and ip address that your domain will have in case they support it.All you do is enter that in register.com or networksolutions or whatever u use and voila.
If your hosting is not supporting domain names then use a service like mydomain.com which will allow you to redirect to your site from the domain that you’ve registered.
