I’m amazed by this video clip of David and Dania performing a Quick Change piece on America’s Got Talent and it got me wondering, how do they do it?
search youtube for “Quick Change Artists on America’s Got Talent” for the video I saw.

In my experience in theater - velcro.
I checked out the video, it looks to me like there are two basic components to the trick: a dress that can be taken off really easily with another dress underneath; and dresses that have hidden sheaths of fabric that can be released at critical moments to give the impression that the girl is wearing a different dress.
Look at this video:
It’s the same routine as the one on the Haselhoff show, but not as professionally filmed. About half way through, when the girl is changing to a purple dress, you can see the purple fabric dropping into place over the last “dress.”
Also, note that when she changes out of the big flowing dress at the beginning, the change is not instant and we are not allowed to see if anything was left in the prop used to cover her. I would guess that was simply a matter of taking off the flowing dress really quickly – it is probably designed for that.
