Quick Easy Way to Divide Files into Parts?

Say I’ve got a file that’s 200MB, and I need to put it somewhere where I can only store files of a size up to 100MB. Is there a utility somewhere I can use to break the 200MB file apart into pieces and reassemble it later?

I’m running Windows XP.

Winzip does that. Just create a fresh zip file, add your file to it & then choose Actions | Split … and follow the directions.

Whether or not the original file your working with compresses or not is really immaterial. The zip, or collection of zips, is just a wrapper around the peices of your file. Any compression you gain is just gravy at this point.

Get a trial of winrar http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm- it will let you zip or rar a file/files and split it into multipe volumes at a size specified by you. I love it for all my zipping needs.

Thanks guys, I didn’t know archive utilities did that as well.

I read this thread title several times before I finally opened it, expecting to find information on cutting up flies.

I came in here to post the same thing. I thought why in the hell would someone really want to know about dismembering flies?
