Part bragging, part having someone over to look it over to make sure I’m not missing anything: my Joey Votto and Jose Reyes for his Ryan Howard. Go with it?
That Votto is as good as Howard? Also, even if it was good trade, I don’t know ripping people off in fantasy baseball is worthy of bragging. It mostly just means you should find a more competitive league.
Hey, he’s setting the trade parameters. Supposedly, this guy is a fantasy baseball junkie and is in a few leagues with a coworker of mine.
Normally I’m a big fan of trading up, but I don’t see why you would make this deal. Votto was a big breakout candidate this year, and so far he’s done nothing to disappoint. Reyes has been disappointing, but he’s not going to hit .240 all season, and when he starts hitting, he’ll start stealing.
He’s the low man on my totem pole right now. I’ve got Rafael Furcal occupying my shortstop spot with B.J. Upton, Matt Kemp, Furcal, and David Wright chipping in with steals, so it’s not a huge deal (Reyes isn’t even starting for me right now; Upton and Josh Willingham are taking up my utility spots right now). I’m giving up two players for one, so I can pick up Carlos Zambrano, Carlos Beltran, Angel Pagan, or someone apparently not a Met that’s available. Votto was also out for a week and that scared me enough to trade for another first baseman (Martin Prado) for insurance. I was trying like hell to keep Votto, but if it takes Votto to make this go through, I’m down with that.
So I’m cool with it, even if Reyes picks it up, because I’m waiting on Furcal to get back into the groove and looking for Upton to also get back into it as well.
Jason Bay for my Josh Willingham. It, at first glance, appears to be a wash, but Jason Bay is going to put up some numbers, yes? Willingham has been looking pretty steady and decent, until recently.
Should I make the swap?
