Quick how-to question regarding FreeCol (computer game)

This is a quick question about how to do something in FreeCol, an open source project of a clone of Sid Meier’s classic strategy game Colonization (a really recommendable game for those who don’t know it yet, BTW). I searched the FreeCol website, but the resources and forums there seem to focus on technical issue.

I built a school in one of my colonies. According to the building information in the menu, schools (and subsequently, colleges and universities) allow me to teach my colonists various useful skills which increase their productivity. How do I do that? I tried putting the colonist into the school just like a production facility, but that doesn’t work. Right-clicking on the colonist allows me to make him a missionary, but not to teach him other skills.

While I’ve never played the shareware version of the game, if it’s like the commercial version, then to use schools, you put the colonist with the specialty you want to tach in the school. Then, over time, free colonists in that colony will become specialists matching the specialty of that teacher.
