I’ve heard many references to Gore withdrawing his concession speech, but I never heard him make one in the first place. Granted, I was dividing myself between the net and the TV, flipping channels constantly, so I could have missed the one time each network broadcast it. But did Gore actually stand in front of cameras and say “Dubya, you the man”?
No. He called George and told him he was going to concede, but on the way to the speech, they found out Florida was much closer than anyone thought. Al told Gore he was withdrawing the concession (something almost unprecidented in U.S. politics).
I believe he did it by phone, Rilchiam. He called Bush to concede, then took it back later by phone.
Yeep, just thought I would pop in and say that I read this thread title as “squick question”.
Thank you.
